In this April 28, 2018 presentation Nachman Brautbar, M.D. clinical professor Emeritus of Medicine, USC Keck School of Medicine takes a close look at undiagnosed and over diagnosed medical conditions.
Misdiagnosis including infectious disease, celiac disease, helicobacter pylori and parasites. Celiac disease, in particular, is often misdiagnosed as IBS. Bile acid malabsorption is also sometimes missed in patients with diarrhea-predominant IBS. Certain use of certain sedative-hypnotic drugs, especially the benzodiazepines may cause irritable bowel-like symptoms.
